Air New Zealand Hangar 4
Protection that performs long before the building is complete.
For a project of this scale, there was no margin for error. The mass timber structure for Air New Zealand’s Hangar 4 required protection during storage at XLAM, through to installation on site. Exposure during construction posed a real risk, particularly around moisture uptake and movement.
Pre-coating with CUTEK® wood oil ensured the timber was stabilized early, reducing the risk of warping, checking and surface degradation. Moisture levels were closely monitored throughout the build, but with CUTEK® oil penetrating deep into the timber, the structure remained protected without the need for reactive fixes.
The result is a high-performance timber structure that has maintained its integrity from day one.
