Claro Arena
Built to protect timber at most ambitious
Claro Arena, home to Universidad Católica, is the first stadium in Chile and Latin America to showcase large-scale structural laminated timber (glulam). Set in the foothills of San Carlos, this redevelopment re-imagines the original 1968 stadium with a modern, sustainable approach. Glulam plays a defining role throughout, from the exposed lattice façade to the Prieto Stand’s 17 meter structural beams, and the complex curved members spanning up to 32 meters across the Livingstone and Fouillioux stands. To protect these elements, CUTEK® wood oil was selected for its ability to stabilize timber from within, extend service life, and simplify long-term maintenance without sanding or specialized labor.
